Description
ABOUT THE PAINTING
Due to the personal knowledge that I have acquired in life as a formative element, the
work plastic and the techniques used by my great-grandfather the Mexican Painter and
Muralist Diego Rivera, and after a process of observation and physical analysis of the work:
“THE RURAL TEACHER”
Oil on Masonite
100x100cm.
Signed by the author.
The great strength of Mexican muralism was the solidarity union of the artists to an ideal
of the people of Mexico, this is expressed in the works of the 3 greatest exponents of this
artistic current, being the desolate landscapes and the pain of the works of José
Clemente Orozco, the aggressive angles and the strength of the characters of David
Alfaro Siqueiros and as in the case of the reference piece of this study, the representation
of a united and linked to their oral traditions that is not limited to a group but
encompasses the principles communists for all Mexicans who are what Rivera believed in.
Being a work of quite large dimensions we can understand the level of detail that this
has. The composition that the teacher gave him is very pleasing to the eye gives each
element to tell what the participants are going through and at the moment
history that the characters live. Knowing that Rivera traveled throughout the country we
can located in the northern area where dunes and deserts proliferate, having several
knights with their beasts and loaders in the background and taking center stage a
carabinero in the first intention of view as well as the close-up that demonstrates a
group listening to a woman in a circle, which is where the title of this work, taking this
into account, I endorse to the best of my knowledge and understanding the work “The
rural teacher” as performed by the teacher Diego Rivera.
Something that artists do to this day is the recreation of their most famous works or those
that a client wants a piece identical, it is also known that Rivera did a lot of study to be able
to capture a work in one of the many murals that I paint (either for government or private
commission). In the case of the piece Regarding this study we are facing one of the final
sketches of the piece shown above being the building of the Secretariat of Public
Education (SEP) home of the rural teacher.
